　大府市は、オーストラリア ビクトリア州のポート・フィリップ市と1993年に姉妹都市提携をしました。

　ポート・フィリップ市は、メルボルン市の南側に位置し、ポート・フィリップ湾に面しています。美しい海岸をはじめ、フェスティバル（まつり）や独自の文化があり、住みやすい街として有名です。週末には多くの地元の人々や観光客が集まり、レジャーやレクリエーション、スポーツで賑わう観光都市です。

　Located to the south of Melbourne and facing Port Phillip Bay, Port Phillip is famous for its beautiful beaches, festivals, culture and lifestyle and is a popular destination on the weekends for leisure, recreation and sporting activities for both locals and tourists alike.
 

　ポート・フィリップ市の浜辺でゆったりと散歩をしてはいかがでしょう。最も人気なビーチの一つはセントキルダビーチです。

　Visitors to the area can enjoy long relaxing strolls along Port Phillip’s beaches with St Kilda Beach being one of the most popular destinations.
 

　カターニガーデンやフィッツロイガーデンのような、よく整備された公園も多くあります。可愛い夜行性のポッサムが多く住んでいるので探してみてください。

　2013年には姉妹都市提携20周年を記念して、セントキルダ植物園内に日本風庭園が造成され、大府市がポート・フィリップ市に寄付した石灯籠と記念プレートが設置・披露されました。

　もう一つの有名な公園はアルバートパークです。湖をジョギングで一周したり、黒鳥が優雅に泳いでいる姿を見たりするのもいいですよね。

　Port Phillip also has a number of well-kept gardens such as Catani Gardens and Fitzroy Gardens – see if you can spot a possum! The St Kilda Botanical Gardens has a Japanese-themed garden complete with a Japanese stone lantern and commemorative plaque which was donated to Port Phillip by Obu and unveiled in 2013 to celebrate the 20th sister city anniversary. Another place to visit is Albert Park Lake where you can enjoy a jog around the lake or stop to take in the sight of Black Swans swimming gracefully on the lake.

　Port Phillip also boasts a number of markets such as the South Melbourne Market, St Kilda Esplanade Market and South Melbourne Night Market all of which offer a variety of produce, arts, crafts, music, food and much more. There are also plenty of cafes and restaurants along the main shopping streets of Acland Street and Fitzroy Street where you will find food from every corner of the planet and irresistible mouth-watering cake shops.

　ポート・フィリップ市は湾に面しているので、水上スポーツの好きな人は水泳やカイトサーフィン、ウィンドサーフィンやセーリングなどを楽しめます。1956年のメルボルンオリンピックにてセーリング競技の主催地となったため、現在でも多くの港湾施設（マリーナ）やヨットクラブの拠点となっています。また、オーストラリア最大のセーリングイベント2種の主催地でもあります。

　地上には、整備された自転車専用道路やサイクリングロードもありますので、「船はちょっと…」という人にもおすすめです。

As the city faces the bay, water sport enthusiasts can enjoy a range of activities from swimming, kite surfing, wind surfing and sailing. As it hosted the sailing events of the 1956 Melbourne Summer Olympics, it is home to several marinas and many yacht clubs and continues to host two of Australia’s largest annual sailing yacht races. On land, the city also has well-maintained bike paths and bike trails, perfect for those who prefer more land-based activities. Port Phillip is also home to many surf life saving clubs which provide volunteer lifesaving services and conduct sporting carnivals.

　セントキルダピアは魅力のある桟橋で、メルボルンの地平線とポート・フィリップ湾の全景が見られる絶景スポットです。黄昏時の散歩やサイクリング、ローラーブレード、釣りにはもってこいの場所です。日が落ちた後は陸に上がってくるフェアリーペンギンを見るのも忘れないでください。癒されますよ。

　Other popular attractions in Port Phillip include Luna Park – a historic amusement park that opened in 1912, it’s iconic entrance makes for a great Instagram photo; St Kilda Pier – a quaint pier that provides panoramic views of Melbourne’s skyline and Port Phillip Bay, perfect for a sunset stroll, cycling, rollerblading or fishing. Don’t forget to stick around after dusk to see the colony of Little Penguins coming ashore to roost.

　The city is also famous for its annual events which draw in huge crowds from around Australia such as the Gay Pride march, St Kilda Festival, St Kilda Film Festival and the Melbourne Formula 1 Grand Prix which is hosted in Albert Park that surrounds the lake.

　Demographically speaking, it is a culturally and linguistically diverse city with 31.4% of the population having been born overseas and 48.1% of the residents speaking a language other than English at home. Port Phillip is a city that prides itself on its diversity and social inclusion.
